Lawrence Haskin

Pastor Lawrence D. Haskin Sr. was immersed in the christian faith and church since childhood.  His family history and later ministry experience includes several churches in various denominations; including  Church of God in Christ. Baptist, Church of God and Methodist.  These varied Christian experiences and disciplines have influenced his ministry over the years.  Lawrence sensed the call to preach as early as age 7.  

At age 14, Lawrence accepted Christ and became active in the Church of God in Christ, where he accepted the call to preach at age 17 under the late Randolph W. Moore, and would later be ordained an Elder under the late Bishop Jerome Scott Jr. of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ.   His ministry has included preaching, teaching and leadership in various denominations and churches for more than 35 years.  He has served as youth, men's and married couples Pastor in various churches.

Lawrence received biblical education from Moody Bible Institute night school and received certification in biblical counseling through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

In 1990 Lawrence answered the call to come to the south suburbs of Chicago, where he served with several Churches until planting Household of Faith in Markham, Il., where he currently serves as Pastor.

He has served with the Southern Baptist Convention's local Chicago Metropolitan Baptist Association, as Director of Policy and Personnel and Chairman of the Administrative Council, and on the denomination's national nominating committee.

He retired from the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board after 41 years of service various leadership roles.  He has served as mediator with the Chicago Center for Conflict Resolution and the Federal Executive Board; mediating conflicts in Federal work places and the Markham Circuit Court.

Pastor Haskin has been married to Sylvia for more than 37 years.  They are the parents of two sons; Lawrence Jr. (Stefani) and David, and the very proud grandparents of two one grandsons.
